Behind Very Vintage

Very Vintage was born from a simple passion: bringing yesterday’s watches back to life so they can go on keeping time on today’s wrists.

My name is Alexandre Camarty, and I’ve loved watches for as long as I can remember. Collector, compulsively curious, hunter of forgotten gems. I only turned professional in 2025, after years of buying, collecting and reselling just for the fun of it. Then, after almost 15 years in the corporate world, I did what so many people dream of doing: I turned my passion into my job.

Our values

Very Vintage rests on three pillars.

1. Honesty first. I only pick pieces I’d want to wear myself. So you’ll find very few hyped or overpriced models here: no Rolex or Audemars Piguet frenzy, no speculation. Just watches with a soul and a story, the kind you actually want to wear.

2. Vintage should stay within reach. Part of what pushed me to start Very Vintage was frustration: watching the vintage market price itself out of reach, with steep prices on pieces many people would love to own and simply can’t anymore. I wanted to do the opposite. Hand-picked, reliable, authentic watches, at fair prices, always in the €500 to €2,000 range.

3. Passion as the driving force. Every watch is chosen for what it is: its design, its character, its story.

Certina, the turning point

It’s THE brand that got me hooked on vintage.

The DS (1959-1968) and DS-2 (1968-1976) opened my eyes: reliable, well built, affordable, easy to service. To this day, I think a Certina DS is one of the best ways into vintage watches. Little risk, a lot of fun, real character. Those two will never leave my (modest) personal collection, by the way.

I’ll try to offer them as often as I can. They deserve to be worn, not forgotten in a drawer.

But the Very Vintage spirit doesn’t stop there. What I love are the well-known houses that make less noise than Rolex or Cartier: quieter names, sometimes underrated, like Longines, Universal Geneve, Tissot, Concord, Credor, Nivada, Baume & Mercier and many more. Honest watches, often rarer, sometimes better finished, and always full of character.

Vintage quartz takes center stage

Like a lot of enthusiasts, I ignored quartz for years. I barely gave it a glance, convinced a watch had to be mechanical to have a soul. Then I discovered what I call early quartz, the quartz of the 1980s.

Those first generations had nothing to do with today’s cheap image: ultra-thin cases, precise movements, futuristic lines. Back then, quartz was the peak of watchmaking innovation, not a watered-down version of it.

Today I give it a selection of its own. Pioneering pieces, sometimes odd, often underrated, and yet essential to understanding modern watchmaking.

How it works

Since September 2026, the drop happens every day. Instead of big weekly or monthly drops, one or more watches a day, each with its own moment.

The day a watch lands, it goes out on Early Bird, my Instagram channel, with its photo and price. The next day, it shows up in my stories. The day after that, it’s here on the site.
